A SENIOR citizen was killed while his son was wounded in a hacking incident due to a land dispute in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday, May 18, 2023.
The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Station 2 reported that the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, May 18, in Latuan village, east of Zamboanga City.
The police identified the fatality as Narciso Endino, 60. Wounded was his son, Jimmiy, 35.
They were allegedly attacked with a bolo by Elmer Endino, 34, a resident of Sitio Bitayan, Latuan village.
Investigation showed that the protagonists, who are all relatives, appeared at the Latuan village hall to settle their dispute over a parcel of land.
After the settlement, Elmer and Jimmiy engaged in a heated argument outside the village hall that resulted to a fistfight.
Narciso tried to pacify them but was hacked by Elmer that resulted in his instantaneous death while Jimmiy was wounded.
Jimmiy was rushed to Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Quiniput village for treatment.
Village watchmen managed to disarm and arrest Elmer and turned him over to the custody of the ZCPO Station 2. (SunStar Zamboanga)
