4 arrested, P136,000 shabu seized in Zamboanga anti-drug stings



FOUR persons were arrested while some P136,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The police identified the arrested suspects as the following: Cosme Cobrado, 47; Segundino Salon, 53; Rodel Tanpua, 27; and Maequel Fernandez, 31.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said that Cobrado and Salon were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 2:40 p.m. Friday, May 19, in Purok Sampaguita, Poblacion village, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

Albarico said seized from the suspects were 15 grams of suspected shabu packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P102,000; a motorcycle with no registered plate number, P1,500 marked money consisting of P1,000 and P500 bills, and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, said Tanpua and Fernandez were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 19, in Zambowood village, Zamboanga City.

Lorenzo said recovered from the suspects were some five grams of suspected shabu packed in 11 sachets worth P34,000, a coin purse, a sling bag, and P500 marked money.

All of the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
