Gonzales takes oath as senior deputy speaker

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Pampanga Third District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. took his oath of office as Senior Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on Monday.

Former President and Now Pampanga Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, outgoing senior deputy speaker, attended Gonzales' oath taking which was administered by Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Gonzales’ family witnessed the oath-taking ceremony.

Gonzales expressed his gratitude to Arroyo for attending the event.

“I thank our beloved President GMA. Her presence symbolizes the unity of the leaders of our province,” he said.

“Together with our governor, Dennis 'Delta' Pineda, and our vice governor, Nanay Lilia Pineda, and other local officials, we will continue to work for the good not only of our respective constituents but of our province and country as well,” Gonzales said.

He said Pampanga has risen from the devastation caused by the eruption of Mount Pinatubo and from being a hotbed of communist insurgency to becoming a growth area.

“But our province still has a lot of development potential, which we should harness for the benefit of our people,” he added.

Members of Cong Dong’s family who witnessed his oath-taking included his wife My, daughter Mica, Nunber 1 board member of Pampanga's third district and son Brenz, Number 1 councilor in Pampanga's captial, City of San Fernando.

Romualdez, Arroyo, and other House colleagues congratulated Gonzales after taking his oath.
