THE Sumbong Mo, Aksyon Agad initiative of PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. is now being enhanced by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The program was established by the previous PNP chiefs, but this time Acorda will place greater emphasis on it to handle complaints against the police.

Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7) Chief Brigadier General Anthony Aberin backed the direction set forth by their supervisor.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, Aberin's spokesperson, explained that Sumbong Mo, Aksyon Agad is receptive to all information.

Police will respond right away to any complaints or information they receive concerning crimes.

“Ang PNP is open sa tanang matang nga complaints from the citizens may it be about a crime, or may it be about a police officer who is violating a policy. Isumbong lang na ninyu sa PNP and rest assured we will timely and appropriately act on it, meaning ani Aksyon Agad dili na mag dugay-dugay,” Pelare said.

This approach will make it easier to address any complaints reported to the police station.

The public can report incidents to PRO-7's hotline posted on their Facebook page.

In Cebu City, one can call the Isumbong Mo Kang CD, which connects to all the hotlines in each police station and the office of the city director.

Dalogdog claimed that this is an excellent way to both deter crime and discipline the police officers.

“Maka encourage sa katawhan na siya nga kung naay mga problema o concern o kung dunay na commit ang atong mga police officers nga dili maayo anytime pwede nila isumbong para maaksyonan kaagad,” he added.

(This will encourage the people to report for immediate action if they have any issues or worries, or if our police officers commit something that is not good).

The PRO 7 pledged to keep accusations and grievances private and to protect the sources of the information. (AYB, TPT)
