THE province of Davao Del Sur will be celebrating the 1st Anniversary of the declaration insurgency-free province on May 25 to 28, 2023, at Provincial Coliseum and Atrium, Gaisano Mall, Digos City.
Dubbed as "Peace Ta sa Maanyag na Paraiso," the anniversary celebration will run for four days to celebrate the victory of peace.
It will start with a motorcade and flag raising on the morning of May 25 and it will be followed by a program at the Provincial Coliseum wherein it will be graced by Lieutenant General Greg Almerol, Eastern Mindanao Command chief, and invited guest from the national government.
A Peace Fair is likewise slated on May 26 to 28 at the Atrium, Gaisano Mall, Digos City wherein Municipal Local Government Units will showcase the different conflict transformation stories of their communities in their respective designated booth exhibit.
Simultaneous with the exhibit are Musical Concert which will be especially participated in by Ronie Liang, Philippine National Police Band and Former Rebels.
Cultural show will be staged on May 27 while a documentary presentation will be shown on May 28 wherein it will feature the emancipation of Former Rebels.
It can be recalled that Davao del Sur was declared as Insurgency Free Province by the Provincial Peace and Order Council on May 25, 2022 after it satisfied the parameters of the AFP-PNP Clearing Validation Committee and the institutionalization of conflict prevention program of the province. (PR)
