A TRISIKAD driver who had been struck by a speeding white sport utility vehicle (SUV) was pronounced dead at the Badian District Hospital.
The incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, in Barangay Poblacion, Alcantara town, southwest Cebu.
The fatality was identified as Jerry Sambilad Timtim, 53, from Barangay Salagmaya of Alcantara.
According to the traffic investigator of Alcantara police station, the SUV was traveling fast on its way to Cebu City from Moalboal town when it hit bicycle rider Alfredo Cultura Sabanal, 70, after passing him along the bridge in Barangay Polo, Alcantara.
The driver did not stop and sideswiped Timtim upon reaching Alcantara proper, killing him.
The SUV driver is now being hunted by the police.
The Alcantara police will carry out a follow-up investigation by checking the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area and nearby towns in order to identify the hit-and-run driver. (AYB/TPT)
