A POULTRY farm in Barangay Tubod was given only 48 hours by the Barili Municipal Government to get rid of the swarms of flies it has caused in the neighborhood.

The results of the investigations of the local agriculture, veterinary, sanitary, environment, and natural resources offices revealed that the source of flies in the barangay was the poorly maintained poultry farm in Tubod.

“The team discovered that the fly infestation was a direct consequence of the farm’s inadequate maintenance and mismanagement,” the Municipal Government said in a statement.

“The surrounding net was torn and riddled with multiple holes, while the exhaust fan emitted a foul smell due to its damaged protective net,” it added.

The inspectors warned that flies may pose health risks to the residents.

Mayor John-John Garcia III already sent a formal letter to the farm’s owner on Tuesday, May 23.

“Considering the letter was received last Tuesday, the owner is expected to implement the necessary measures by Thursday afternoon,” the local government unit said.

In line with this, the mayor is calling on the public to refrain from “bashing” the farm on social media.

“Giawhag namo ang tanan nga maglikay sa pag-atake o pag-post parte sa farm. Sila, sama nato, naga-pangandam sab aron matuman ang ilang responsibilidad sa Barili,” Garcia said.

(I urge everybody to avoid criticizing or posting negative remarks about the farm. They, like us, are trying to fulfill their obligations to Barili). (ANV)
