THE search is on!
Around 30 young ladies were present during the screening stage as they vied for the prestigious title of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2023, held at the SM CDO Downtown Premier last Saturday, May 20, 2023.
According to the organizing committee of Miss Cagayan de Oro, aspiring candidates should be 18-25 years old, at least 5'5" in height, at least a high school graduate, and residing at least a year in Cagayan de Oro or currently employed or studying in the city for at least a year. She should also be single, never been married and with no children.
The organizers were also looking for ladies who are not only articulate and physically fit, she also should be of good moral character.
This year's screening committee was composed of Department of Tourism-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan; City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual; Sheila Lumbatan, the City Mayor's Office chief of staff; City Information Officer Ivy Guantero; Mark Christopher Yaranon, the president of Oro Fashion Designers Guild (OFDG); Gilda "Gigi" Go, the district governor of the Rotary International District 3870; and Sherwin Estavilla, the pageant coordinator.
Miss Cagayan de Oro beauty search is considered to be one of the biggest highlights of the Kagay-an Festival in the month of August, as all of its side events and pageant night could gather thousands of spectators and audience.
Apart from cash prizes and freebies waiting for the winning candidate, she will also get the chance to experience the adventure, training, workshops and travels that the organizing committee has consistently prepared for all the candidates.(SunStar Cagayan de Oro)
