P18M-worth of cocaine seized in Clark airport

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - More than P18-million worth of suspected cocaine were intercepted by combined agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Customs (BoC), Bureau of Immigration (BI), National Bureau of Investigation (BI), and Philippine National Police (PNP) at the Clark International Airport on Tuesday night, May 23.

The alleged illegal narcotics were seized from a 48-year-old man identified as Renaldo Wilfred Olivieira, from Suriname, South America.

Authorities said Olivieira arrived at Clark International Airport onboard the United Arab Emirates Flight EK 338 around 6:31 PM.

He was arrested at 7:44PM for attempting to smuggle the illegal substances which were inside his luggage and were concealed inside his jackets

Around 30 vacuum sealed pack wrapped in mesh cloth and blue carbon paper containing alleged cocaine weighing 3,468 grams and valued at P18,380,400 were recovered from Olivieira's possession.

A charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the apprehended suspect.

The operating troops included PDEA Clark Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Unit, PDEA Region III, PDEA Region VII, PDEA International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service, BOC - Port of Clark, BI, NBI Pampanga District Office and PNP Aviation Security Unit 3.
