ILOILO City Government is currently implementing a series of activities in support of its Mental Health and Wellness Program dubbed Ginhawa 2.0, a local term which translates “to breathe” during difficult times.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas pushed for the program which mainly focuses on community-based learning and socialization activities that help improve the mental well-being of residents.
The weekly activities in the city’s well-known open spaces where family and friends can go to and have fun together or even when alone, can be a spot for me time.
A “Ballroom Dancing” in all plazas on May 26, 2023 from 6a.m. to 7a.m. will be hosted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
The Bonsai 101: Basic Principles and Methods in Growing and Designing will be held at the Garden of Love in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district, on May 27, 2023, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The whole-day event will be facilitated by the City Planning and Development Office in partnership with the Bonsai and Sueseki Club of Panay Inc. and is open to all plant lovers and Bonsai hobbyists who want to know more about the science and art of Bonsai.
A lecture and demonstration workshop will focus on how-tos: select a good bonsai specimen; design and train it; grow and maintain it; design and shape it to its full aesthetic potential; and harness its commercial value to help contribute to increased household incomes.
Entrance is free and participants may bring their bonsai plants for consultation, critiquing or designing.
The initiatives are being undertaken in part by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. (PR)
