A GOVERNMENT vehicle assigned to the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) was seen along F. Sotto Drive carpooling students to and from school on a daily basis.
On May 24, 2023, a concerned citizen sent a video to SunStar Cebu’s social media page showing personnel of CCTO driving students to school using a government-issued vehicle.
Raquel Arce, head of the CCTO, said in an interview at SunStar’s online news and commentary program Beyond the Headlines, that she was shocked upon hearing the information, prompting her to conduct an investigation.
Arce confirmed that the individual caught on the video is a uniformed personnel of the CCTO, and that the vehicle is registered under their office.
Administrative Order 239, Series of 2008 states that government vehicles are not intended for personal use.
While Arce said the personal use of the government vehicle is wrong, she said the person who did it must not be immediately judged.
Instead, the incident will be investigated and the violator, given due process of law. (AML)
