PEOPLE who are living in shanties below the bridges in Cebu City will be asked to vacate.

This, after the police and Mayor Michael Rama noticed that there are individuals living under the bridges during their walk-through from Gorordo Avenue to Barangay Talamban on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

According to Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), the illegal settlers need to be removed from the area because their lives are in danger.

Dalogdog pledged to take charge in keeping the city's rivers and bridges clean.

The police official admitted that this issue has not yet been solved because people who were ejected from under the bridge will return again when the police and other government agencies are gone.

Because of this, they need the help of the barangay officials and the community to help the City Government's desire to become like Singapore.

“Kami naningkamot pud mi nga makatabang sa mga programa sa local government unit. In fact, naa mi weekly nga pagahimuon nga gitawag namog mural painting, kadtong mga vandalism nga makita among pintalan, ang among area karon diri sa area sa Gorordo padulong sa may Harold Hotel,” said Dalogdog.

(We are also trying to help the programs of the local government unit. In fact, we have a weekly mural painting activity on vandalized walls. Right now, we are here in the area of Gorordo going to Harolds Hotel.)

Fraternities and clubs, as well as other groups and sectors of society, will take part in the activity.

During the tour, the mayor pointed out that some of the sidewalks are being used, making it difficult for pedestrians to move past.

Even if it is against the law for anyone to urinate anywhere in the city, there are also places where the smell of urine is intolerable. (AYB/TPT)
