THE Registry of Deeds (ROD 7) is scheduled to distribute land titles to the 342 beneficiaries in Malabuyoc town on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Lawyer Ariel Condat, head of ROD-Cebu, said the activity is part of the government agency’s "Gasa Ko Titulo Mo" program, which entitles the beneficiaries to receive free land titles.
The processing of Transfer Certificate of Titles has been made easier after the beneficiaries presented a free patent title previously issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The recipients would be able to obtain their land titles more quickly and will save P2,000 to P2,500 in ROD fees as a result of the free service.
"Tungod ani nga programa, dili na sila kinahanglan mag-comply aning dokumento. Ang ila nalang buhaton nga i-prove nga sila ang tag-iya aning maong yuta ug dili na sila mobayad og registration fees," Condat said.
(Because of this program, they no longer need to comply with the documents; all they need to do is establish that they are the legal owners of this land and that they will not be required to pay registration fees).
The program has been implemented in collaboration with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter, Office of the Vice President, local government units, and Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s caravan of government services.
Condat said that his office has registered 3,164 land titles since November 2022 where the beneficiaries have been able to enjoy free services.
Of that number, 622 have been fully claimed by the owners and the rest can be obtained at ROD 7, which is located next to the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas at the Department of Agriculture compound in Barangay Capitol Site.
The claimants are encouraged to bring their valid identification cards and those authorized to obtain a special power of attorney signed by the heirs are required. (PAC, TPT)
