Nipadayag si Tagbilaran City Bishop Alberto Uy niadtong Biyernes, Mayo 26, 2023, nga ang bag-o lang nga pag-ila sa United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) sa Bohol isip labing unang Global Geopark sa Pilipinas nagkinahanglan og dugang responsibilidad sa katawhan niini sa pag-atiman sa kinaiyahan.
Sa usa ka interbyu sa radyo, si Uy niingon nga ang internasyonal nga titulo nagpataas sa mga gilauman alang sa mga Boholano nga magpakita og dugang nga pag-atiman sa Inahan sa Yuta kon magpabilin lamang ang pag-ila sa Unesco.
“This international recognition comes with heavy-duty responsibilities for we are called to resolutely commit to reduce our carbon footprints, lessen the effects of climate change, and trim down risks spawned by natural and human-made hazards, thereby sustaining our island-province’s resources,” matod ni Uy.
“Above all, the conservation and proper valorisation of Bohol’s natural and cultural heritage and the safeguarding of our intangible heritage demand our highest attention,” dugang niya.
Niadtong Miyerkules, Mayo 24, 2023, ang Bohol nahimong unang Global Geopark sa Pilipinas human giila sa Unesco ang 18 ka bag-ong global geoparks.
Gibuhat niadtong 2015, ang titulo sa Unesco nag-ila sa geological heritage sa internasyonal nga kahulogan.
Sa pagkakaron, aduna nay total nga 195 ka global geoparks nga nahimutang sa 48 ka ka mga nasod.
Ang Unesco niingon nga kini niila sa Bohol nga adunay usa ka “geological identity that has been pieced together for over 150 million years.”
Matod ni Uy nga ang pag-ila sa Unesco naghatag sa Bohol ug sa iyang katawhan og laing tinubdan sa garbo.
