101st Infantry Brigade gets new commander

THE Philippine Army has initiated changes in the leadership of the 101st Infantry Brigade based in Basilan on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Designated as the new 101st Infantry Brigade commander in acting capacity is Colonel Frederick Sales replacing Brigadier General Domingo Gobway who assumed as the new commander of the Installation Management Command of the Philippine Army based at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on May 11.

In his valedictory address, Gobway expressed his gratitude to the Basileños for their untiring support to the military in Basilan.

He also commended the troops for their dedication and hard work.

Meanwhile, Sales assured that he will continue the efforts of his predecessor.

Prior to his designation, Sales was the deputy commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade. He is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bantay Laya” Class of 1994.

The change of command ceremony was presided by Major General Antonio Nafarrete, 1st Infantry Division commander, who has jurisdiction over the brigade.

Nafarrete lauded the able leadership of Gobway. He also assured that with Sales as their new commander, the 101st Infantry “Three Red Arrows” Brigade troopers will remain steadfast and selfless in serving the people of Basilan.

For his part, Lieutenant General Roy Galido, Western Mindanao Command chief, has commended the numerous accomplishments of the brigade and acknowledged the leadership prowess of both the outgoing and incoming commanders. (SunStar Zamboanga)
