THE First Insurgency-Free anniversary celebration of Davao del Sur culminated at Gaisano Mall of Digos on Monday, May 28, with Major General Jose Eriel Niembra, 10th Infantry Division commander, in attendance.
The closing ceremony includes the documentary short film showing of the Tupad Pangako Program - Pagkalas sa Tanikala ng Terorismo produced by John Paul Seniel.
The film showcased how the Davao del Sur provincial government has initiated programs to help the former rebels reintegrate back to their respective communities as well as its endeavors towards a peaceful and progressive province clinging to their vision of Maanyag na Paraiso.
During his speech, Niembra expressed his gratitude to the provincial government of Davao del Sur for spearheading the memorable celebration.
“The resilience of Davao del Sur made it possible for us to celebrate this spirit of [insurgency-freeness]. We cannot attain and sustain peace if we are not united and steadfast,” Niembra said.
The celebration started May 25 and ended Sunday, May 28 with the concepts such as Kalinawagan, MusiKapayapaan, Kulturang Kalinaw ng GIDAs and Pagkalas sa Tanikala ng Terorismo.
The celebration is an amplification of the manifestation of the Executive Order No. 70, which emphasizes the whole-of-nation approach.
Niembra's attendance to the celebration solidifies the team efforts of the military, different government agencies and the local government units in the pursuit of genuine, holistic, and lasting peace and sustainable development. (PR)
