"I WILL reverse the Zaycos in the coming election," Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda said Monday, May 28, amid reports that former governor and mayor Isidro Zayco will make a political comeback in the coming 2025 elections.

The city's Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco is also reported to be eyeing the mayoral seat.

Miranda confirmed seeing Zayco going around the city, especially in coffee shops and terminals.

He said Zayco was his wedding godfather.

Miranda won by a very slim margin against former mayor Pedro Zayco in the 2022 elections.

He said the former governor may have felt bored staying in his house and may have missed what he used to do as politician and leader. That's why he is back to his habit now.

Miranda said he has been eager to be part of the political group of the Zayco's that he has been applying to be in their political line-up as councilor but they refused him since 2010 that's why he ran and fortunately, won as mayor of the city.

"It is still the people who will decide for us. If they are satisfied with my performance, they will decide for it," Miranda said.

He said it's too early to declare but being a neophyte mayor he will definitely seek a second term in the 2025 elections.*
