Indonesian Consulate joins Halal Expo 2023

THE Philippines held the three-day 8th Halal Trade and Tourism Expo 2023 in Davao City, at the SMX Convention Center in SM Premier Lanang, Thursday, May 25-27 2023, with the theme, “Harnessing the Halal Ecosystem.”

The Indonesian Consulate General in Davao led by Consul General, Dr. Achmad Djatmiko/ConGen Djatmiko said participating in the Halal expo is one of the ways to let the people know that Indonesia’s halal and tourism are alive and waiting to be explored!

“Halal industry in Indonesia, 90% of our food is halal, which means we are ready to cater to all Halal-consuming countries,” ConGen Djatmiko said.

However, he said that their challenge lies in how to modify their food products to satisfy the palate of other nationalities.

“So there comes creativity,” he said. He said Indonesia has somehow overcome the challenge of meeting the taste of its foreign consumers through improvization of their products, not just in their packaging and all-around look but also the taste.

“That’s why we are here to promote our products so that many people would know that we have a lot of nice, great, or delicious products that we have already exported to other countries,” he said.

During the expo, the Consulate General of Indonesia in Davao City exhibited the country’s top products and tourism spots through an audio-video presentation.

In the presentation, the Indonesian Consulate highlighted all the beautiful places in Indonesia that are waiting to be rediscovered and revisited.

Indonesia boasts of islands to highlands tourism spots. With over 17,000 islands, it is no wonder that Indonesia holds a lot of hidden tourism gems that are waiting to be explored.

It is not only products and tourism spots that make Indonesia interesting but its intra-regional cultures as well.

During the expo, some cultural dancers composed of Indonesian students show off their cultural dancing prowess to welcome both the exhibitors and guests. They also present their colorful dances like Indonesia Menari, Rampai Batam, Anak Medan and Gemufamire dance that awe the spectators.

ConGen Djatmiko said tourists in Indonesia are also treated to wonderful dance exhibitions to show them the colorful and lively Indonesian culture.

“As Halal is part of our culture, we invite you all to come and visit Indonesia,” ConGen Djatmiko said. CEA
