A TOTAL OF 146 bikers from Northern Mindanao took part on the region's biggest bike tour of the year held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in Camiguin.
Camiguin Isle Bike Tour is a 64-kilometer bike tour around the island organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Northern Mindanao under the Bike NorthMin program, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camiguin and Recreational Outdoor eXchange (ROX).
The event aims to promote bike tourism in Northern Mindanao. It is also in support of the province's "Camiguin Isle Be There" brand launching.
The bike tour kicked off early Sunday morning at the New Provincial Capitol Grounds in Mambajao, Camiguin.
In her message, DOT Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan said that apart from having fun and staying healthy, the bike tour is also an excellent opportunity for bikers to not only become sports enthusiasts, but also explore Camiguin as tourists and contribute to the economic growth of local communities.
"We want to convert not just as sports enthusiasts but as tourists. Mao ani ang katuyuan aning atoang bike event ug ang atoang Bike NorthMin, we also want our riders aside from having fun being healthy to be tourists and to help our economy," Unchuan said.
"Dako kaayo ang impact sa inyong pagbisita diri sa Camiguin ug dako kaayo ang impact sa pagbisita ninyo all over Northern Mindanao," she added.
The Bike NorthMin campaign was launched on May 13, 2023. The program strives to make bike tourism popular in Northern Mindanao and unleash its full potential in the tourism industry. It also aims to encourage both the government and the private sector to invest in promoting and developing bike tourism. (SunStar Cagayan de Oro)
