2M-kilo plastic collected under AC waste program

ANGELES CITY — A total of 2,054,091 kilos of plastic were collected from the city’s waste to rice program.

The waste from the city's 33 barangays and redemption booths from January 2022 to April 30, 2023 under the “Walang Plastikan — Plastik Palit Bigas” project launched by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

Lazatin said that 2,054,091 kilos of plastic were exchanged into 2,054,091 kilos of rice by all the residents of the 33 barangays who participated in the project.

Two trucks are deployed in the barangays with the supervision of Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office Head Irish Bonus-Llego said.

The redemption booth in the city hall is open every Mondays to Thursday, 8AM to 5PM.

City Engineer Donato Dizon said the collected plastics will be sold to cement companies.

The earnings will be turned over to the City Treasurer’s Office for collection.

Of the 33 barangays, Barangay Balibago has the highest number of plastic-to-rice exchange — 129,239 kilos; second is Anunas with 121,563; Cutud (108,703); Cutcut (80,132); and Pulung Maragul (75,053).

The sixth to the highest is Pulung Cacutud (67,151); seventh is Sapangbato (56,655); eighth is Sapalibutad (55,513); ninth is Pampang (55,444); and tenth is Pandan (55,097).

The redemption booth in the city hall collected 627,592 kilos of plastic.
