A TOTAL of 370 Grade 7 students of the Municipality of Calatrava received learning tablets in a ceremonial distribution and launching of Project “BONG” on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

The student recipients are from Agpangi National High School, Dolis National High School, Jose Valmayor National High School, Laga-an National High School, and San Benito Integrated School.

Project BONG or (Bata ang Ona sa NeGros) aims to ensure that learners are properly equipped with learning materials in addition to providing them with quality public education.

Present at the activity held at the Calatrava Covered Court were Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era and Vice Mayor Florido Dinapo, Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet, Calatrava 1 Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Roger Palang-at, local officials, teachers, and parents.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson thanked the local government of Calatrava, Department of Education (DepEd) Calatrava, PTA, and all other partners, for their support to the learners.

The governor said that it is his ardent hope for every Negrense student to advance to be confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to the community and the country.

“Ang inyo gobernador, upod ang mga maestra kag opisyales sang Calatrava, maga-suporta gid sa inyo para makatapos kamo kag malab-ot ang inyo mga handum para sa inyo kaugalingon kag sa inyo pamilya (Your governor, together with the teachers and officials of Calatrava, will always support until you graduate and reach your dreams for yourself and your families),” he said.

He also said that there is a need to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the modern world to promote sustainable development, a culture of peace and non-violence, gender equality, and global citizenship. (PR)
