3 die in multi-vehicle crash along SCTEx

MABALACAT CITY -- Three persons including, a 9-year old girl, have died in a multi-vehicle collision which transpired at

the Mabalacat portion of Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mabalacat police identified the fatalities as MJ Uriel Santos, 9; Normita Valencia, 49; and Leslie

Pangan, 46.

The three were onboard a black Toyota Wigo car driven by Ma Maureen Santos, 47, of Mapalacsiao, Tarlac City, who was injured in the mishap.

The city police stated that a white north-bound Ford Ranger pick-up truck, driven by Jett Ace Pascua, 29, of

Paniqui, Tarlac crossed the south-bound lane of the expressway due to slippery roads caused by heavy rains.

The pick-up truck hit the left portion of a white Faw Truck driven by Jerry Valerio, 35, of Magalang,

Pampanga. After this, the victims' car was crushed between the pick-up truck and a Victory Liner bus driven by Eulalio Alcantara, 42, of Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

Chester Paul Cunanan of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Concepcion,

Tarlac, stated that Maureen Santos, the driver of the car who sustained injuries, was rushed by rescuers of the Aeromed Ambulance Transport to the Concepcion District Hospital.

The injured victim was later taken to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital for treatment, Cunanan said.

The MDRRMO Concepcion Rescue, under the command of Ronald M. Bautista, for its part, brought the three casualties to the Mabalacat District Hospital but were pronounced dead by physician Alta Gracia L Rafon.

The city police is set to file Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Homicide, Physical Injuries and Damage to

Property against the drivers of the vehicles involved in the accident. (RGN)
