LAWMEN have arrested three people and seized high-powered firearms as they destroyed a marijuana farm in an anti-drug operation in the province of Sulu, the police said Thursday, June 1, 2023.
Police Major Majindi Haling, police chief of Siasi, Sulu, identified the arrested suspects as Winilson Mabini, 35, his wife, Sitti Khanna, 28, and his brother, Kimpe Namli, 25.
Haling said the suspects were caught in the act of cultivating marijuana plants when the policemen together with troops of the 104th Infantry Battalion checked the reported existence of marijuana farm at Sitio Lammin in Minapan village, Siasi on Wednesday, May 31.
He said the troops have recovered from the suspects an M-16 Armalite rifle and a caliber .45 pistol several rounds of ammunition.
Haling said the troops have destroyed 233 marijuana plants of different sizes worth P200,380.
He said formal charges will be filed against the suspects who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
