THE Department of Agriculture (DA) in Northern Mindanao clarified that there had been no cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the region for the past four months.
According to Novie Suello of the regulatory division of DA-Northern Mindanao, the last province to be infected with ASF was Camiguin.
Bukidnon and Misamis Occidental remain ASF-free, he added.
Despite the current status of the region, Suello reminded the public not to be overconfident as this will make ASF reoccur, saying that piggery owners should have correct biosecurity measures.
Local government units were encouraged to adapt the "BABay ASF Program," where backyard farmers should have Biosecurity Level 1 farm biosecurity in compliance with minimum standards set by the Philippine College of Swine Practitioners.
Based on the DA-Northern Mindanao's price monitoring for the months of March, April and May, there has been no increase in the prices of pork meat, Suello said.
Pork Kasim is still at P350 and pork liempo is at P360.
