A REGIONAL Development Council-Davao Region (RDC-Davao) official said they are eyeing to resume Davao-Jinjiang and Davao-Hongkong flights, among other international flights before the year ends.

“Hopefully, we were informed, that before the year ends mo-resume ang [flights will resume for] Davao-Jinjiang and Davao-Hongkong,” RDC co-chairperson Arturo Milan said during Wednesday’s Habi at Kape forum on May 31.

Milan said the resumption of Davao-Jinjiang-Davao and Davao-Hongkong-Davao flights are in its validation process. When the flights resume, Davao-Hongkong will now be serviced by Cathay Pacific while Davao-Jinjiang flights will be served by Xiamen Airways.

“Hopefully we can also make it realize in the very near months I would say,” Milan said.

Aside from aforementioned flights, Milan said the RDC-Davao will be in talks with Consul General of Malaysia Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh for the resumption of Davao-Kuala Lumpur-Davao and Davao-Kota Kinabalu-Davao flights.

The RDC-Davao will also push the resumption of the Davao-Manado-Davao flight, and is currently in talks for the Japan-Davao flight.

Meanwhile, Milan said aside from resuming and adding flights, the Davao International Airport is continuing its expansion such as adding baggage carousels and expanding the area space in the airport.

Based on previous reports, airport expansion will be completed this year.

“In fact ang CAAP nagpresent sila sa mga plano how, now, the plan nahuman na man tong mga escalators ug pagpadako sa mga pagsulod nimo sa terminal (The CAAP presented the plans how, now, the plan is that the escalators and the expansion of the entrances to the terminal have been completed),” Milan said.
