Integrated farm gets hydroponics facility

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) for Central Luzon awarded the Greenhouse with Hydroponics to Bausa Integrated Farm (BIF) on May 30 in Barangay Gabihan, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

This is under the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP).

The facility was formally turned over with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The facility worth P927,775.85 was accepted by BIF Chairperson Luis Bausa .

NUPAP National Coordinator Aster Paglinawan, Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension Dr. Eduardo Lapuz, Jr., Provincial Governor Daniel Fernando, Field Operations Division Chief Elma Mananes, Engr. AB David and Provincial Agriculturist Gigi Carillo witnessed the activity.

NUPAP aims to increase the supply of vegetable production, promote a nutritious vegetable diet, and contribute to the local economy, social integration, and environmental care.

The greenhouse with hydroponics is an innovative facility used in the modern method of urban farming. It is a method of growing plants that uses a mineral solution in water.
