Alternergy Solar Pacific launches PALAU solar project

PHILIPPINE-BASED company Alternergy and its subsidiary Solar Pacific Energy Corp. inaugurated on Friday, June 2, 2023, Republic of Palau’s first solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (Bess) project.

It said it’s the largest to date in the Western Pacific region. Palau President Surangel Whipps Jr., Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Palau Richelle Turner and officials and executives of Alternergy, Solar Pacific and Palau Public Utilities Corp. led the inauguration ceremony.

The project, with a capacity of 15.3 MWp (megawatt peak) solar PV and 12.9 MWh (megawatt hour) Bess, is one of the biggest foreign direct investments in the country with a total project cost of US$29 million. (PR)
