ALMOST P10 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by police in Central Visayas in an anti-criminality campaign launched from May 28 to June 3, 2023 that also resulted in the arrest of 178 drug personalities.
The police, in their crackdown against illegal gambling, also arrested 276 individuals who were caught engaged in cockfighting, swertres, and hantak (game of heads or tails), among others. Confiscated from them was bet money amounting to P34,690.
The one-week operations also led to the confiscation of 111 unlicensed firearms and three explosives. Arrested and charged in court were 27 people.
As to the campaign against most wanted persons, the police netted 86 individuals who have been on the list.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, chief of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas, said their accomplishments last week were a result of their relentless anti-criminality campaign in the region.
Pelare assured that all their operations were conducted in accordance with the law and polices of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“If you can see this is a product of our relentless and non-stop anti-criminality campaign diri sa Central Visayas, pero ang atong gipaniguro nga kini nga mga operations are done honest to goodness and in accord with policy kay mao man nay usa sa priority sa chief PNP nga tininuod ug walay pag violate sa policy (but we ensured that the operations are done in accordance with the policies because that’s the priority of the chief PNP),” he said.
