One can really feel the joy of graduation. Parents are the most fulfilled.

Our Mother had passed away during my high school graduation at Maryknoll College in 1956 and College with the degree of BS English /history at the Maryknoll College/ University of Santo Tomas in 1960. It was my sister, Lydia Castillo, who stood as my guardian.

At the University of San Carlos, I finished my M. A. Literature and Ed. D in Education /English with Sonny. I was alone in East West Center, Honolulu, when I finished a course in cross cultural studies, including short courses in theater arts in selected universities in the United States. I really wished my mother was around on all those occasions. Sonny couldn’t leave his job.

I therefore can feel the depth of joy of the graduates with their parents on their side. When I was dean at the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Jose-Recoletos, I had to hurdle the plight of many parents whose children couldn’t graduate. There were tears shed and I understood.

I dedicate this page to parents and children whose thirst to graduate had been quenched.

Congratulations!
