Over 3,500 vacancies in Kalayaan job fair

THERE are at least 3,524 job vacancies in Davao Region as of Monday, June 2 for the upcoming Kalayaan Job Fair of the regional Department of Labor and Employment (Dole-Davao) on June 12, 2023.

Of these, 2,051 local vacancies from 29 employers and 1,473 vacancies from four overseas employers but Dole-Davao expects more partner employers will participate in the job fair, specifically 40 local and ten overseas employers.

The majority of the local vacancies are for delivery drivers or riders with 505 vacancies, followed by vacancies for operations management trainees, service crew, cashiers, baggers, customer assistants, marketing professionals, property specialists, accounting staff, and marketing assistants.

For this year, our job fair is not a complicated process but we try to manage it efficiently. This year, we would like to ensure the applicants na presentable sila pagdating nila doon sa (that they are presentable at the) interview area so they will be catered in a conclusive environment, Lorraine Ugsang, Dole-Davao focal person for employment, said.

On the other hand, the Davao City Public Employment Services Office (Peso) is also conducting other job fairs slated on June 6 to 7 at the University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep), June 16 at the Davao Merchant Marine Academy College of Southern Philippines and at Davao Central College, June 17 in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, June 21 at Usep-Mintal, and on June 23 in Barangay Centro San Juan.

Peso unit head Lilibeth Pantinople said the vacancies are mostly business process outsourcing (BPO) workers, mall staff, construction workers, and skilled workers.

For overseas opportunities, vacancies are for nurses, engineers, food service workers, and service industry workers.

Based sa atong mga report, ubay-ubay na gyod atong mga natabangan (job seekers) especially pag job fairs kay naa man gud ta mga hiring on the spot (Based on our report, weve assisted many job seekers already especially during job fairs because we have hirings on the spot), Pantinople said.
