28 more AC cops sacked -- PRO 3

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Twenty-eight more policemen assigned at the Angeles City Police Office were relieved from post following an alleged illegal activities.

Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo, director of Police Regional Office III, said all of the personnel of Angeles City Police Station 2 totaling to 27 individuals were booted out as of Monday morning.

They were replaced by cops from the Angeles City Mobile Force Company (AC MFC) led by the new station commander, Major Merben Laborera.

Laborera was the former deputy commander of AC MPF before assuming the station commander post.

Colonel Juritz Rara, director of Angeles City Police Office, was also placed under administrative relief status effective Monday morning, pending the investigation, said Hidalgo.

“He will not be performing his duty while investigation is ongoing. If the investigation showed that he is not accountable, he will be reinstated but if proven that there are lapses on his part, he will be officially relieved,” Hidalgo said.

Deputy Director Colonel Deonido Maniago Jr. is the acting officer-in-charge of the Angeles City Police Office, Hidalgo said.

The relief of the 28 policemen from the post stemmed from the alleged illegal detention and extortion committed by seven personnel of Angeles City Police Station 2 on Friday, June 2.

A total of seven officers of the said station, including its commander, two investigators, and four intelligence officers were already in custody of Philippine National Police (PNP) – Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG).

They will be facing criminal and administrative charges for arbitrary detention.
