THE four informal settler families (ISFs) in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, who earlier received a notice to vacate, were given until June 10 to vacate the area, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting, Jr., said Monday, June 5.
Ting said the Local Housing Board will hold a meeting this week for the final demolition of the four houses.
“These families refused to vacate the area...so we have no choice, we will demolish their houses so that the Department of the Public Works and Highways (DPWH) can continue their flood control project along Mambuloc Creek in Barangay 2,” he said.
If they refuse to voluntarily demolish their houses until June 10, the city will implement the demolition of the houses, he added.
On May 11, the CLO served the demand letter or notice to vacate to the 32 ISFs living along Mambuloc Creek in Barangay 2. Of the 32 ISFs, four of them refused to vacate the area.
Ting said the affected residents were given 30 days to process their documents for their relocation site provided by the city government.
Before the issuance of the notices, he said that the affected families were already advised by the city government to process their documents for the relocation site.
Currently, the DPWH is implementing a flood control project along Mambuloc Creek so they need to clear the area, especially the residents living in the danger zone, he added.*
