THE City Government of San Carlos recently extended the tax relief to delinquent real property taxpayers until the end of the year.

In a press release, Mayor Renato Gustilo approved last May 18 Ordinance No. 23-09, amending sections 6 and 9 of Ordinance No. 22-02.

Section 6 of Ordinance No. 23-09 states that owners of real properties with tax delinquencies as of January 1, 2023, and prior years may engage in a compromise agreement with the city government thru the city mayor and pay 20% of the tax delinquencies upon execution of the agreement.

In Section 9, taxpayers who want to avail of such may apply and enter into a compromise agreement until December 31, 2023.

Said ordinance also stipulated that tax relief may also be applied to delinquencies as of December 31, 2021, and a compromise agreement until December 31, 2022.

Acting City Treasurer Ray John Lim said they extended the payment of delinquent taxes to cater to taxpayers unaware that the city has a tax relief ordinance.

He added the city has an existing 6,733 delinquent real properties that include land and building, hence, the local government will hold a tax campaign this June until August 2023. (PR)
