KANANGA town in Leyte is all ready to showcase its beauty and bounty during the opening of this year's Kananga Kaanyag Festival from June 7 to 11, 2023
"We cordially invite everyone to join us in this grand launch and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and rich traditions that make Kananga truly unique. This year's festival promises to be a sensory feast, showcasing the very best of Kananga's heritage and local talent," said Kananga Mayor Matt Torres.
"Visitors can anticipate a delightful fusion of scents, flavors, and sights, creating an experience that will leave an indelible mark," added Torres, as he invited the public to join the event.
Kananga Tourism Officer April Tanhueco said the five-day extravaganza "guarantees an unforgettable experience."
The highly anticipated opening salvo of the Kananga Kaanyag Festival 2023 will start with a mass at 4PM on June 7. It will be followed by the enthralling presentation of Festival Queens.
On June 8, the public can join the Grand Ylang Ylang Tree Planting, a symbolic homage to the splendor and significance of the ylang-ylang flower within the municipality.
Beauty and Wellness activities will be staged on June 9.
Starting at 1PM on June 9, the residents and visitors can join the beauty and personality workshop where they can acquire valuable tips and techniques, followed by the Grand Kaanyag Zumba session.
On June 10, Kananga will open its Music and Disco Wonderland, with invited DJs, musicians, and other personalities.
The grand finale of the Kananga Kaanyag Festival will take place on June 11, showcasing the town's vibrant traditions and exceptional talents.
"Don't miss the grand float parade, where intricately adorned floats will grace the streets, accompanied by energetic street dance performers. Witness the coronation of the Festival Queen, an honor bestowed upon a young woman who embodies the spirit of Kananga. The evening will culminate in the awe-inspiring Grand Ritual Showdown, an astonishing spectacle of traditional performances and cultural rituals that will leave spectators in complete awe," Tanhueco said in a statement.
