AN employee of a food manufacturing company died after he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling backward and smashed his head against the wall.
The incident occurred inside the Virginia Food Inc. (VFI) compound in Barangay Canamucan, Compostela town, northern Cebu at 4:53 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
The victim was identified as Jesryl Mantawel, 27, single, a native of Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
He was brought to a hospital in Danao City, where he was declared dead-on-arrival by his attending physician.
Rolly Magnitico Tadlas, 48, married, from Purok 4, Barangay Sabang, Danao City and driver of Fuso Truck plate no. RJG148 was taken into police custody.
Police Captain Kalvin Roy Mamaradlo, chief of Compostela Police Station, said a certain Arnel Cardillo, safety officer of VFI, informed them about the incident.
Mamaradlo said Tadlas was driving the vehicle in a reverse direction when it hit Mantawel, who was standing at the back.
The victim sustained severe head injury due to the impact.
The company guard turned over Tadlas to the local police. (GPL, TPT)
