THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) assured that by June 12, 2023, mendicants and street dwellers will already be removed from the streets in compliance with Mayor Michael Rama’s directive.

The CCPO, Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement or PROBE, Cebu City Anti-Mendicancy, Task Force Street Children, City Legal Office, the Department of Social Welfare and Services and the City Legal Office are currently working together to carry out the mayor’s beautification project in order to make Cebu City like Singapore.

CCPO Chief Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog made an assurance that there will be no more people sleeping on the streets as well as beggars before June 12 or the celebration of Independence Day.

The police have given their full support to the mayor's programs.

According to Dalogdog, those people living under the bridges have already been evicted and sent back to their respective hometowns, while others were temporarily placed at the Noah Complex in South Road Properties.

Dalogdog said that they are keeping an eye on the affected individuals to make sure that they won’t come back and contaminate again the city's rivers.

The police personnel also helped sweep the sidewalk outside the CCPO headquarters on Gorordo Avenue.

But Dalogdog claimed they won’t achieve their target if the barangay officials won’t cooperate because they lack personnel.

Dalogdog also urged the business establishments to paint and clean their exteriors in support of the mayor's objective. (AYB TPT)
