TWO people were arrested while some P686,500 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
The arrested suspects were identified as Jimmy Julkipli, 40, of Kasanyangan village, Zamboanga City, and John Michael Balucan, 38, of Purok 4, Dunggo-An village, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.
Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, said Julkipli was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 8:31 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Florentina Drive in San Jose Gusu village.
Lorenzo said seized from the suspect were some 100 grams of suspected shabu packed in two big heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P680,000, a bundle of 69 pieces of P1,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 used as marked money.
Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said Balucan was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at Purok Lomboy in Romarate village, Aurora.
Albarico said confiscated from the possession of the suspect were some 0.975 grams of suspected shabu worth P6,500, a motorcycle, P500 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia.
The suspects were detained pending the filing of charges against them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Zamboanga)
