WOK by Remedy Kitchen nipped Natural Born Griller, 68-66, at the start of Season 4 of the TUF Basketball 38-above Recreational Category on June 5, 2023 at the Benedicto Gym in Cebu City.
Rey Judilla scored the game-winning layup with 0.5 of a second remaining in the tightly-contested match. Wok led by as much as 18, but NBG rallied late in the fourth to tie the game up at 66-all before Judilla’s heroics.
Aldrin Fernandez had 17 points to lead the way for Wok by Remedy Kitchen.
In other games, USC nipped the Rulerz, 60-57. Chinx Maano led USC with 16 points and four assists, while Vincent Sesbreno added 11 rebounds, two blocks and a steal, to help propel USC to the victory.
And lastly, SHS 2K notched a 53-52 win over Team Jesus. Marlon Olivera had 10 points and six assists for SHS, while Joseph Lo put up nine boards, three blocks and a steal.
The league was founded and organized by TUF Barbershop chief operating officer Stuart Violanda, who wanted to give recreational basketball players a platform to showcase their skills. (JNP)
