JAYSON Mama got a much-needed confidence booster after a clear unanimous decision over fellow former world title challenger Robert Paradero on June 6, 2023 at the MGOC-LGU in T’Boli, South Cotabato.
Mama and Paradero started the fight a furious exchange of heavy blows. The 26-year-old Mama got the better of the exchange and landed the cleaner punches. In the second round, Paradero attacked aggressively but Mama timed a counter that dropped the two-time world title challenger to the canvas.
From then on, Mama controlled the fight and put on a boxing clinic against the 26-year-old Paradero.
All three judges scored it 98-90, 96-92 and 95-93 in favor of Mama. Mama, ranked 30th by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in the flyweight division, improved to 19-1 with 10 knockouts, while Paradero dropped to 18-5-1 with 12 knockouts.
Meanwhile, Adam Diu Abdulhamid and Kenny Demecillo were also victorious in the undercard.
Abdulhamid (18-13, 9 KOs) ended a four-fight slump with a unanimous decisionwin over fellow journeyman Jose Ocampo (21-16-1, 13 KOs).
Demecillo (17-6-2, 10 KOs) totally outclassed Kim Lindog (8-16-1, 5 KOs) by a convincing unanimous decision. (EKA)
