THE P134-million road concreting projects in the municipalities of Poro and San Francisco on Camotes Islands were inaugurated by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Garcia was joined by San Francisco Mayor Alfredo Arquillano and Poro Mayor Gary Rama during the formal opening of the roads.

The P79 million San Francisco project included a farm-to-market road that passes through the barangays of Sta. Cruz and Cabunga-an, while the P55 million Poro project covered road concreting in the barangays of Western Poblacion, Adela, and Daan Paz.

Both initiatives are anticipated to improve travel for both local and foreign visitors and hasten the delivery of agricultural products from the mountain barangays to the public market.

In her speech, the governor announced that road concreting project will be expanded to include Barangay Sonog in San Francisco town upon the request of the village chief.

Garcia has been mobilizing the Capitol’s resources for the road concreting projects in Camotes since she returned as governor in 2019 to boost the island’s tourism industry.

Accompanying Garcia during the inauguration rites were Board Members Mike Villamor and Red Duterte. (PAC, TPT)
