POLICE are looking into illegal drugs as the possible motive in the shooting death of a woman in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City around 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

The fatality was identified as Adessa Alfar Fernandez.

The 17-year-old twin brothers, who were recently released from Operation Second Chance, a juvenile detention facility in Barangay Kalunasan, have already been identified as the perpetrators by the Mambaling police, according to Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Chief Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog.

According to reports, the accused believed that the victim had told the authorities about their illegal drug activity, leading to their detention.

Recently, Fernandez demanded shabu from the minor offenders and threatened to call the police if they refused to comply.

Because of this, they shot the victim when they happened to see her walking towards a billiards hall in Lawis.

Fernandez succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the head and chest.

“Based on the initial investigation conducted at the Mambaling police station, this victim appears to be threatening the two suspects, who are allegedly selling illegal drugs, that if they don’t give shabu she will report them to the police,” Dalogdog said in Cebuano.

Dalogdog added that Fernandez used to be a live-in partner of suspected drug lord Jerome Gonzaga alias Balo, who was recently released from Cebu City Jail.

A manhunt operation is ongoing against the twin boys. (AYB, TPT)
