Miado faces unbeaten Malachiev

JEREMY Miado looks to continue his hot streak inside the ONE Championship cage as he takes on unbeaten Russian grappler Mansur Malachiev on June 10, 2023 in the undercard of ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov at the historical Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 30-year-old Miado had an awful start in his campaign in ONE Championship, wherein he lost four of his first six contests in Asia’s biggest stage. He dropped his first two fights to fellow Pinoy Robin Catalan and Thai Pongsiri Mitsatit in 2017.

He won his first fight as a ONE Championship fighter after knocking out former ONE strawweight champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke in 2018. He split his next two fights in 2018 before losing to Sor Amnuaysirichoke by a second round stoppage in early 2019.

After that, Miado started his amazing run with back-to-back stoppage wins over Chinese Li Tao Miao, a fortunate second round technical knockout over then very promising strawweight prospect Lito Adiwang and a third round technical knockout of No. 5 ranked strawweight Danial Williams.

A win over Malachiev should catapult Miado into the top five of the strawweight division, in which Jarred Brooks is the current titleholder.

The 32-year-old Malachiev enters the ONE Championship cage from a three-fight stint in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle FC. He submitted all three of his opponents in Eagle FC – Ilmiyamin Dzhavatov, Ruslan Sariev and Rashid Vagabov.

Miado, who trains out of Marrok Force in Thailand, is 12-4 with seven knockouts, while Malachiev is 10-0 with three knockouts and five submission victories.

In the main event, two-belt world champion Regian Eersel (60-4) defended his ONE lightweight Muay Thai title against Russian Dmitry Menshikov (27-1).

Kade Ruotolo (24-2) also defends his ONE lightweight submission grappling strap against veteran Tommy Langaker (121-29-1) in the co-main event.

Also featured in the show is an MMA featherweight fight between No. 3-ranked Ilya Freymanov (11-1) and ONE Warrior Series winner Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg (11-3-1), while former ONE featherweight kickboxing kick Superbon Singha Mawynn (113-35) faces off with Tayfun Ozcan (84-10-3) in a clash of world ranked kickboxers.
