A MOTORCYCLE driver and the pedestrian he struck are both in critical condition in different hospitals.
According to Senior Master Sergeant Rolando Guirido of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office, the accident happened on A.S. Fortuna Street in Barangay Bakilid at 4:10 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2023.
He identified the driver as 48-year-old Julius Majomot Perez, a resident of Barangay Mantoyong in the same city, and the victim as 17-year-old Lanz Frances Fernan, a resident of Sacres Extension Road in Barangay Bakilid.
He said Perez was brought to the Mandaue District Hospital, while Fernan was brought to Chong Hua Hospital.
Based on their initial investigation, Perez hit Fernan, while the latter was crossing the street.
Guirido said they believe the motorcycle driver was speeding when the accident happened.(BBT, PJB)
