AN official of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) admitted that police personnel from the Central Visayas were among the 2,500 policemen nationwide who were either suspended, terminated or relieved of duty due to various offenses.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of PRO 7 Chief Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, that there were PRO 7 operatives included in the National Police Commission's decision from January to June 7 of this year, but he did not yet know how many police officers had been fired or suspended in Central Visayas.

“I don’t have the exact number but there are also police officers who got suspended and some are dismissed after they underwent the usual hearing trial in relation to our disciplinary action,” Pelare said.

Most of the offenders are being investigated administratively for breaking the rules and regulations of the Philippine National Police. (AYB, TPT)
