ALMOST seven months since the wage hike petition was filed, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) is set to hold the public hearing regarding the possible pay increase in Metro Manila.

In a Notice dated June 9, NCR wage board Chairperson Sarah Buena Mirasol announced that a public hearing is already set on June 21, 2023, in Pasay City.

"Notice is hereby given to the public that the RTWPB-NCR will conduct a public hearing on minimum wage adjustment on June 21, 2023, 2 p.m. at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue corner Roxas Bouleveard., Pasay City," said Mirasol.

She said all stakeholders are invited to attend the public hearing to give their inputs on the call to increase the minimum wage in Metro Manila.

"We invite you to participate in the said public hearing to gather your opinions and insights concerning minimum wage that will serve as the Board's valuable inputs in the coming wage review of the existing minimum wage in NCR," said Mirasol.

The public hearing comes after separate consultations were held by the RTWPB-NCR with the workers' and employees' sectors.

The Kapatiran ng mga Unyon at Samahang Manggagawa had filed a wage petition on December 5, 2022, seeking a P100 wage increase in Metro Manila.

The Unity for Wage Increase Now also filed a wage petition asking for a P1,141 minimum wage rate in Metro Manila on March 21.

Metro Manila's current minimum wage rate stands at P570.

The last wage hike granted by the NCR wage board was issued in May 2022 and took effect June 2022. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
