JOBS and opportunities await Boholanos as an international hotel chain is set to rise on the island of Panglao, Bohol.

Cebu-based AppleOne Group Inc. and JW Marriott signed a memorandum of agreement on Saturday, June 17, 2023, in Singapore for the establishment of the first-ever five-star hotel in Panglao Island—the JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort and Spa.

The new investment is expected to trigger economic activities and create more jobs on the island.

“Surviving the worst effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, people are now eager to make up for the lost time and travel, and we intend to bank on that. We want to entice them more by bringing the luxury experience to the regions starting with Bohol, which we believe they will enjoy even more because of the experiences and tourist destinations,” Manigsaca said in a statement.

Manigsaca assured that since this will be the first five-star resort in Panglao to be built under Marriott International, tourists can expect the project to be massive in terms of room quantity and luxury.

He said construction may take place this year and will be completed in three years’ time.

JW Marriott is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio.

Today, there are over 100 JW Marriott hotels in more than 35 countries and territories worldwide.

JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort and Spa is AppleOne’s third partnership deal with Marriott International, following the success of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort located along Punta Engaño Road, Mactan Island.

The partnership was also behind the Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan, which is located within the premises of Mahi Center located along ML Quezon National Highway in Barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Early this year, Manigsaca said 2023 brings a lot of promising opportunities.

“I am quite optimistic that we will be experiencing a full recovery of our tourism industry with more tourists coming in from Korea, Japan, and even China. Real estate will also significantly improve as well. AppleOne will further our imprint in the Visayas and Mindanao for our branded hotels and residences,” he said.

The AppleOne Group has stakes in residential, hotel and resort, commercial and healthcare businesses.
