Bacolod City awards outstanding individuals, businesses on Charter day

THE Local Government of Bacolod led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez has recognized four outstanding citizens dubbed as “Ang Banwahanon” awardees that also include outstanding Bacolod City Government employees, outstanding Bacolod City tax payers - single proprietorship and corporation and top realty taxpayers – individual and corporation for the calendar year 2022 held in a formal awarding ceremony, highlighting the city's 85th Charter Anniversary, at the L’ Fisher hotel on June 18.

The local government has recognized these outstanding citizens, city employees, taxpayers, and businesses who have made significant contributions to the development and progress of the city and to honor and appreciate individuals and entities that have positively impacted the community, a celebration of the achievements and contributions of these outstanding individuals and entities to the City of Bacolod and its people.

The Ang Banwahanon awardees were Willy Au, Ian Manuel Lo, Benjamin Lopue Jr., and Ruby “Token” Lizares.

The Top Business Taxpayers for Calendar Year 2022 in the Single Proprietorship category include Silver Dragon Construction Lumber and Glass Supply, Wilkinson Construction, Bacolod Triumph Hardware, A-A Electrical Supplies and Edmarliz Beverage Trading.

For the Corporation (Business Tax) category, the awardees were Nestle Philippines, Inc., Coca Cola Beverages Philippines Inc., ARB Call Facilities Inc., SM City Bacolod and SYL Hermanos Trade Center Inc.

The Top Real Property Taxpayers for the Year 2022 for the Individual category were Jose Antonio Alonte Jr., Stephanie Chiu, Atty. Roseller Maalat,, Rolando Corona Jr. and Catherine Ong.

The Top Real Property Taxpayers for the Corporate category include Capitol Central Commercial Ventures Corp., SM Prime Holdings Inc., Coca Cola Beverages Philippines Inc.,Philippine Airlines Inc. and Dynasty Management & Development Corp.

These awardees have demonstrated exemplary qualities, leadership, and service to the community. They may have contributed significantly to the betterment of Bacolod through their involvement in various social, cultural, or charitable activities.

Moreover, the Outstanding Government Employees Award acknowledges the dedication, professionalism, and exceptional performance of government employees in serving the public, individuals who have gone above and beyond their duties to provide excellent public service.

The Outstanding Bacolod City Government Employees were: U De la Tiña, a Construction & Maintenance Man who works for 32 years in service City Engineer's Office;

Joemarie A. Pajes, Electrician Foreman who worked for 27 years in service City Engineer's Office; Femarie S. Ybañez, Accounting Clerk I who worked for 22 years in service Bacolod City College.

The awardee for the Supervisory Level was Rey M. Demisana, Board Secretary IlI who worked for 25 years in service Bacolod City College.

The pioneer awardee for the "I'll be the Change" was Julius Caesar Benedicto Esmeraldo who performed a Citizen's arrest when he caght three unknown suspects who took a metal cover of a drainage hole near the Sugar Regulatory Administration office in Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.

Mayor Benitez expressed his congratulations and gratitude to the awardees and urged them to continue doing better for the City of Bacolod. He also hopes that others will also emulate the good deeds of the awardees in the years to come.*
