Korean nationals fail to watch whale sharks in Oslob due to road accident

THE five Korean nationals, including their two Korean tour guides, who were on their way to Oslob town, southern Cebu to watch whale sharks were instead taken to the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital following an incident on the national highway in Barangay Langtad, Argao town at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

The victims, however, were declared out of danger despite the face that the Toyota Hi Ace (GAL 451) tourist van that they were traveling in sustained great damage.

The victims were identified as Lee Mookyung, Ha Eunjo, Lee Youngseo, and their tour guides Lee Wankeun and Donggyu Yu.

According to Corporal Geofrey Dacoma of Argao Police Station, the driver, Ramilito Abing Purog, 49, who hails from Cebu City, was hurrying to catch up to whale shark watching activity in Oslob when the tire of the van hit the edge of the road, causing the vehicle to flip over and crash into a tree.
