FIFTY identified child laborers in Sipalay City received help through the Project Angel Tree, a child labor prevention and elimination program, at Brgy. Gil Montilla, June 22.

Organized by the Department of Labor and Employment together with the City Government of Sipalay through the Public Employment Service Office, the program is in line with the 2023 observance of World Day Against Child Labor last June 12.

In an orientation, the Philippine National Police-Sipalay discussed the importance of children’s rights to the beneficiaries and their parents.

The beneficiaries received five-kilogram packs of rice from Vice Mayor Oscar Montilla, hygiene kits and vitamins from the City Health Office, groceries from Rep. Alvarez-Lansang, and slippers and medicines from donor Hendrix Lim.

Engr. Praem Mediodia, executive assistant to Mayor Maria Gina Lizares, thanked the DOLE, 6th District Representative Mercedes Alvarez-Lansang, TESDA, and private donors for choosing and supporting the city as recipient of the program.

The beneficiaries also received free haircut and grooming from Palasuelo Barbers and PNP Sipalay.
