CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia suggested that instead of digging again to repair the damaged lines of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), it would be better to first check their cable lines that were recently repaired.

This is what Garcia proposed during her meeting with the NGCP representatives on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Capitol.

In order to ensure appropriate power supply to the consumers in the aforementioned areas, the damaged lines are being tracked down on the right side of UN Avenue in Mandaue City toward Lapu-Lapu City.

Garcia disclosed through Sugbo News, the Capitol's social media arm, that performing additional excavation work in the area will only worsen the traffic situation.

In accordance with that suggestion, the NGCP is expected to give a report to the governor next week regarding the results of the line testing.

The governor also wants to know if any business establishments in the said areas require more power supply.

To recall, the transmissible cables along Ouano and UN Avenues in Mandaue City were repaired last April 20.

Apart from NGCP, representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue City, East Asia Utilities, Mactan Electric Company and Visayan Electric Company were also present at the meeting. (ANV, TPT)
